What is DiSC®?
This is not a test. We repeat: this is not a test
One of the ways to explain what DiSC® is, is to explain what it is not. People often (mistakenly) refer to these tools as the DiSC® Test, the DiSC® Personality Test, or generically as personality tests, but a test implies pass or fail, right or wrong. DiSC® is an assessment of an individual’s personality style. Everyone is a blend of all four DiSC® styles—usually one, two, or even three styles stand out. There is no perfect DiSC® style, no good or bad or right or wrong. Just different.
D ominant – Direct, firm, a leader, results-oriented
I nfluencing – Outgoing, talkative, optimistic, people-oriented
S teady – Even-tempered, accommodating, patient, family-oriented
C ompliant – Analytical, organized, data-driven, detail-oriented
What does DiSC® measure?
DiSC® measures personality and a natural behavioral style. It does not measure, aptitude, values, or intelligence. After answering a series of questions, a personalized DiSC® assessment profile describes behavior in various situations, for example how an individual influences others, responds to rules and procedures and responds to challenges.
Successful people understand themselves and how their behavior affects others.
The DiSC® model is non-judgmental and provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and to adapt their behaviors with others. This can be applied to leaders and their team, sales-client relationships, work teams and even personal relationships.
